Running Your Own Plots: Want to run a storyline of your own? You'll get the hang of this by seeing what other people do, and definitely talk to other people about this as they'll be able to explain it in more detail, but basically if you want to do anything big or have anyone visit the island for whatever reason, you have to email the admins at administration@fandomhigh.net for approval in advance.
Not everything that goes on in the game has to be run past the admins first, of course. The general rule of thumb is:
Plots that generally need approval:
- take a significant amount of time to play out
- affect or involve a significant number of people
- have a lasting effect on your character
Plots that generally don't need approval:
- only involve one or two people
- have no NPC characters coming in
- don't have a lasting effect
- don't last longer than a few days
- minor off-island plottishness with NPCs from your fandom (visits home, phone calls, etc). You should run that past other players from your fandom though.
This is to moderate character traffic, make sure things stay cool for everyone involved in the game and so the admins can help you iron out any problems that you might not immediately see. This pretty much falls under a "when in doubt, ask" guideline. It may seem daunting at first, but you will get the hang of it and get a feel for what needs to be submitted and what doesn't.
Plot Calendar: The public plot calendar can be found here. It's updated whenever possible and is intended to give everyone an idea of when major events and plots are on. It does not detail what plots are on when. Please keep in mind that the public plot calendar is for reference only and may not always reflect set dates for certain events. Please use it as a guide only.
Pregnancy Plots: Don't use pregnancy as a plot lightly. Babies are not disposable. If you do intend on having your character become pregnant (female or asexual reproduction only unless mpreg is canon for your character), you are expected to carry through with it logically and correctly. Student characters will be sent home in their third trimester for their parents to deal with. There WILL be a baby and you WILL be expected to keep and care for it if you return to the game. BABIES ARE NOT DISPOSABLE. End caps lock. If you're going to have a kid brought onto the scene, your character will be expected to deal with it *all the time*. There goes their social life. Please submit all pregnancy-related plots to the admins first. Also, try to keep pregnancy scares to a minimum.
Pets and other animals: Normal pets are fine provided you intend to keep them around and have your character care for them. Any unusual pets (pets that are different from the run of the mill domesticated house pets) should be run past the admins first. If you're going to have a normal animal that is too big to keep in an aquarium or will be noisy, please check with your roommate/housemate first.
